A school management platform I'm building, with a computer-based test engine, fees, grades, attendance and a parent portal. Django REST API with a Next.js frontend.
Overview
Clariva is a school management platform that I'm still building. Its core is a computer-based test (CBT) engine for running exams, alongside fees, grades, attendance, timetables and a parent portal. Each school's data is kept separate from every other school's.
Built so far
- 01A CBT exam engine that starts or resumes sessions, shuffles questions and options for each student, enforces a start and end window, and grades submissions on the server
- 02Grading rules that compare answers case-insensitively, resolve multiple-choice letters to option text, and track tab switches and late submissions
- 03A question-bank upload that parses Word (.docx) files into multiple-choice, true/false and short-answer questions
- 04Role-based permissions: admins, principals and teachers manage exams, while students can only start an exam, read its questions and submit
- 05Separate admin, student and parent areas in the Next.js app, with route guards and JWT login that refreshes automatically
- 06Fees with pricing per class arm and invoices, continuous-assessment grades, attendance and timetables
- 07A public parent and student record lookup by student code
Summarised from the project’s README and live site, where available.
